SPORTS MEDICINE SPECIALIST & DIRECTOR- LA ULTRA,

SENIOR FELLOW

Dr. Rajat Chauhan

Dr. Rajat Chauhan, a student of running and pain, has been a runner for 37 years and founder race director of La Ultra, an 11-555 km race in Ladakh since 2010. He is a Sports-Exercise Medicine and Conservative Pain Management physician for over two decades.

He was appointed by the ICC to represent the Indian sub-continent at World Congress for Sports Medicine and Science prior to the 2007 Cricket World Cup in the Caribbean and was then appointed to be chairperson at the 2011 edition. He was the founding head of the department of Sports-Exercise Medicine at Manipal Hospital (2006-08), founding director of Sports department at Ashoka University in (2014-16), and Principal Running Technical Consultant of Adidas India (2014-17).

He has been a regular columnist with Mint and Hindustan Times (2008-20) and is a published author. He was also associate editor of the British Journal of Sports Medicine. He is currently on Vega Schools Leadership Board and on the selection committee of the Indian Ultrarunning team.

Joy Banerjee

Joy is a designer and an entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience. His core interests are in creating elegant and usable products. His experience in Design, Technology, and Business gives him the ability to bridge the gaps between creativity, execution, and strategy. He mentors several startups working in E-Commerce, AI, and Mixed Reality domains. His focus has been to bring Design-Thinking into problem-solving and innovation processes of various enterprises, social impact organizations, and global institutions.

He was the Design Thinking and Visioning Expert for FSSAI India’s entry that won the Top-Visionary award for the Rockefeller Food System Vision2050, from a pool of more than 1,300 applicants across 110 countries.

Joy is an alumnus of IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay, and Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (BITS Pilani).

PSYCHOANALYSIS IN PRACTICE: BETWEEN PHILOSOPHY AND NEUROBIOLOGY, SENIOR FELLOW

Prof. Anup Dhar

Anup Dhar was a medical professional and a Left political activist. Post-structuralist critiques of mental health took him to psychoanalysis and postcolonial-decolonial critiques of the Left took him to a rethinking of the political. Rethought psychoanalysis and rethought political came to dialogue through practical philosophy. His co-edited books include Breaking the Silo: Integrated Science Education in India (Orient Blackswan, 2017), Psychoanalysis in Indian Terroir: Emerging Themes in Culture, Family, and Childhood (Lexington Books, 2018), Clinic, Critique, Culture: Philosophy and Praxis of Psychoanalysis in India (forthcoming). He is currently working on an annotated edition of the English writings of Girindrasekhar Bose titled Aboriginal Psychoanalysis (forthcoming Livonics 2021).

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST AND PSYCHOANALYTIC THERAPIST, JUNIOR FELLOW

Dr. Seyed Sepehr Hashemian

Dr. Seyed Sepehr Hashemian, clinical psychologist and psychoanalytic therapist, by completing his studies with honors in top Iranian universities and as a member of the National Elite Foundation of Iran, working in inpatient and outpatient clinics of psychiatric hospitals for many years and visiting his patients in his private office every day. He also has been working in the field of psychoanalysis and trying to expand his psychoanalytic activities by providing supervision and teaching courses.

Also, as a supervisor, he has participated in the projects of the Iranian Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization and is currently responsible for running the smoking cessation tobacco quit-line of WHO(4030) in Iran.

By publishing numerous articles in the field of psychology, he has expanded the scope of his research activities and has recently been working on IPA Inter-Regional Encyclopedic Dictionary of Psychoanalysis and has also published his translation of a collection of Freud’s articles into Persian titled "On Infantile Sexual Theories".

PSYCHOANALYSIS IN PRACTICE: BETWEEN PHILOSOPHY AND NEUROBIOLOGY, JUNIOR FELLOW

Shivam Sagar

The particularly migrant character of Shivam’s academic journey – from psychology to psychoanalysis to practical philosophy – is indicative of his preoccupation-with and commitment-to the question of the ‘unconscious’.

He is engaged in psychoanalytically oriented psychotherapeutic practice with subjects experiencing mental distress and suffering.

After completing his MA in Psychology and his MPhil action research in the indigenous contexts of Bastar, Chhattisgarh, Shivam has since been working in the developmental context of South Odisha.

Shivam is currently exploring psychoanalytically the interface of development and culture – to see how (indigenous) cultures put to question development’s dominant imagination, certainties and practices.
